Brad Paisley and Miranda Lambert have joined forces for a poignant new duet titled “Someone Else’s Arms.”
The single is the latest addition to Paisley’s ongoing, non-traditional music release initiative known as the “Tacklebox” project. Launched roughly one month ago, the roll-out functions as a fluid, continuous playlist rather than a standard studio album. Speaking on the concept, Paisley noted, “I see this ‘project’ as never-ending. It’s almost like the fans have a direct link to my Dropbox or to a playlist that never ends. We are calling it ‘Tacklebox; because it’s a box full of hooks, country lyric hooks.”
“Someone Else’s Arms” is the seventh track unveiled under the project umbrella, following previously released tracks such as “Fallin’,” “Overnight Low,” and “Hi Ho Silverado,” which features David Lee Murphy. To capture a specific historical aesthetic, Paisley recorded and re-recorded the material at The Castle recording studio in Franklin, Tennessee, the exact venue where he cut his earliest albums. Paisley explained that modern digital distribution allowed him to revisit his older creative eras, adding, “In this digital age, I have every song I’ve ever written at my fingertips. This project gave us a license to dig back into the catalog of songs that were never released, that feel like a time period, a style of writing, a sound, and nostalgia.”
The sonic profile of the new music draws heavy inspiration from late-20th-century country production. Paisley’s team deliberately modeled the tracks after the prominent 1990s sounds of artists like Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, and Alabama, alongside the 1980s stylistic influences of George Strait and Garth Brooks. Reflecting on the evolution of the music industry since his debut, Paisley stated, “When I first started writing and recording music, I couldn’t have dreamed of the ability to put something out instantly for the fans.”
The track arrives as Paisley concluded the European leg of his international concert tour, before resuming his domestic tour dates. For details head HERE.
