Kenny Chesney announced that his upcoming studio project, “Silver Sands Marina,” will be released on Sept. 25. The project marks the 21st album of his career and his inaugural full-length release under his independent record label, HEY NOW Records. Co-produced alongside his longtime collaborator Buddy Cannon, the 11-track collection follows his lead promotional single, “Carry On,” which debuted earlier this year.
To coincide with the album announcement, Chesney dropped the album’s title track on streaming platforms. Written by Kyle Sturrock and Johnny Clawson, the mid-tempo composition is designed to reflect a sense of personal awareness and appreciating unplanned moments. Commenting on the thematic direction of the piece, Chesney noted, “It is such a well-written song,” later adding, “You can smell the fall in the air, the lake and that solitude. Everyone’s so busy rushing, you miss most of the small details – and everything that happens around them. But in ‘Silver Sands Marina,’ not only do the details hold the song in place, they remind you that the magic happens in the simplest, realest places: you just have to be open to letting it happen.”
Silver Sands Marina features a roster of prominent Nashville songwriters, featuring contributions from Jessie Jo Dillon, Matraca Berg, Tenille Townes, Shane McAnally, Adam Wright, Tony Lane, and Brett James. Listeners will also hear vocal appearances from guest artists such as Megan Moroney, Colbie Caillat, and Lily Meola. Describing the emotional range of the musical collection on his social media accounts, Chesney stated, “This album was built with human emotions that make us feel alive,” signaling a transitional shift from his typical high-energy summer singles toward a more introspective aesthetic.
Chesney’s album announcement coincides with his recent induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame and an ongoing residency at the Las Vegas Sphere.
